About the Urban Assembly Academy of Civic Engagement

The School's Mission

UAACE, a college readiness school, will prepare ACE scholars to use knowledge about political and social matters in the past to take action in the future. Our scholars will understand that their involvement in the political process is central to making substantial changes in public situations which is their obligation as community members. The UAACE holds as its four core values: commitment, communication, collaboration, and civic responsibility. By living and learning through these values, ACE scholars will see the connections that exist between themselves and others. This perspective will affect the way they interact and make decisions in the world.

A House Divided
The school consists of about 200 ACE scholars which will be divided into three houses of approximately 60 students. The house names are Hollywood Heroes,  Randall Revolutionaries and Tremont Trailblazers.

The Magna Carta

is a set of beliefs that the school ties into the four core values. It provides families, students and staff with a language to articulate the core values and a framework for how we should behave as a community.

Civic Responsibility

1.      The needs of other are often placed before our own in both our Community and the community where we live.

2.      In Community, we struggle to accept everyone for who they are; gifts and talents as well as weaknesses and flaws.

3.      Our behavior is based on strong values of truth, justice, love and respect.

4.      We let no harm, physically, emotionally or spiritually, come to each other.

Communication

5.      We demand respect from and give respect to everyone.

6.      We encourage each other to do and be our best in all areas of our lives.

7.      We use supportive words when speaking to and about each other.

Collaboration

8.      Everyone helps everyone else. One needs not to be asked to help. One notices that someone needs help and lends a hand.

9.      We will do no harm to anyone, physically, emotionally, or spiritually.

10.  We develop friendships with each other that are inclusive. This refers to all relationships, regardless of gender, race, class, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and ability level.

11.  We behave toward each other with respect as brothers and sisters.

Commitment

12.  We demand the best of each other and ourselves, academically and socially.

13.  We all participate fully in the things we do together.
